Lagos and several other cities commercial transport drivers drink alcohol in the morning before hitting the road. They will tell you they have been drinking and driving even before you were born and that they always get to their destinations. In most cases when I see them drinking and they the one to drive me, I always switch vehicles, because prevention is better than to cure. They do forget to realize that just because they made it home safely on an occasion, does not mean that they are making a right decision. When putting those keys in the ignition and driving away after drinking you are not only putting your life at risk but you are risking the lives of all those you are carrying and other road users.
Alcohol affects users in a way that affects their judgment, depth perception as well as vital motor skills required to drive safely.

Alcohol manufactures in Nigeria, now have them in sachets and small bottles for those who can't afford to buy big bottles. The local herbs sellers also produces their herbs and fill it up with alcohol. If you ask a driver what he is drinking they will tell you herbs for the stomach, which is not true. They forget the fact that getting into an accident, the driver's life could be lost as well as the passengers. According to the FRSC report, drunk driving statistics of accidents are higher than other related accidents.

Every driver, claims to be right on the road, the truth is that any person behind the steering wheel needs to be careful, for accidents can happen at any time.
Driving a vehicle while sober can be difficult in itself, adding alcohol or other intoxicants into the mix is putting one's life and the lives of others on the highways at risk.

The photos in this story were taken between 6am -7am at motor park in a Western state of Nigeria. The men are mostly drivers and driver's accident, and security men who were going to resume at their duty posts.
Drinking and driving is dangerous, if you must drink and drive, Please drink water
