Lawrence Lual Malong, the golden child of South Sudan, hails from Aweil in Sudan, the son of beautiful Aluel Kuol Makuach.

He is the grand child of Chief Malong Yor Lual and Adut Wol Ngor.

His mother, Aluel Kuol Makuach loved him so much as a young man while growing up that she could do anything to make him happy. She believed that Lawrence was a reincarnation of her grandfather, Chief Peter Makuach.

His Grand Mother Adut Wol Ngor

His parents showed him great love, his father, Lual Malong Yor Snr. wanted him to be the very best among his pears, but unfortunately, he died while Lawrence was still young. For the mother, life moved on as she battled to stand by his son until she too departed the earth.

Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Jr is not related by birth to the former Chief of Staff of South Sudan, General Lual Malong, it is just a coincident of names, but that notwithstanding he is a hard working young man and he keeps on moving on.

South Sudan was a very peaceful country until December 2013, after President Kiir accused his then-deputy Riek Machar of plotting a coup against him and it led to a civil ethnic war, mostly between the people of Dinka, the presidents tribe and Nuer, the vice president’s tribe.

Working on his story, I wondered how many of those people had an idea that some 10 years ago he was battling to make his mining company stand firm and he had attracted investors from countries like China and the United States. How come people never noticed him then to call him names and spoil his image out of jealousy like we see today?

Lawrence is a self-made billionaire, who is less than 30 years and is doing all he can to restore better life to his people, the people of South Sudan. As an African Businessman, people may not like his Public relations strategy which involves him advertising himself to attract investors to his country.

Some people also complained that he flew first class in his business trips abroad without realising that most of those trips were sponsored by his foreign investors so as to attract more business men of high repute, for his country.
